8 ounces fresh mushrooms (button or cremini), sliced

4 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper to taste

4 slices of rustic bread (sourdough or ciabatta works well)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Optional: Balsamic glaze for drizzling

Sauté the Mushrooms: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil and butter. Once melted, add the sliced mushrooms. Cook until they are golden brown and have released their moisture, about 5-7 minutes.

    Add Garlic and Seasoning: Stir in the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped parsley.

      Toast the Bread: While the mushrooms are cooking, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the bread slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush each side with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes on each side until golden and crisp.
