Ingredients

4 large eggs

1 cup whole milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

8 slices of thick-cut bread (such as brioche or challah)

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup maple syrup

Fresh fruit (such as bananas or berries, for topping)

Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.

Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated—allow any excess to drip off.

Once the butter is melted and bubbling, place the soaked bread slices onto the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.

Reduce the heat to low. In the same skillet, add the brown sugar and maple syrup, stirring well to combine. Carefully place the French toast slices back in the skillet, allowing them to soak in the caramel mixture for about 1-2 minutes on each side.

Remove the caramelized French toast from the skillet and plate them.

Top with fresh fruit and a light dusting of powdered sugar before serving.
