Ingredients

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

8 slices of ham (black forest or honey ham)

8 slices of Swiss cheese

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs, beaten

1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon paprika

3 tablespoons olive oil or unsalted butter

1 cup heavy cream

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese (for the sauce)

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chicken:

    - Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

      - Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to about 1/2-inch thickness using a meat mallet.

        - Season both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.

          Assemble the Cordon Bleu:

            - Lay 2 slices of ham and 2 slices of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.

              - Roll up the chicken tightly, starting from one end, and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine to keep the filling inside.

                Breading the Chicken:

                  - Set up a breading station with three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.

                    - Dredge each rolled chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess, then dip into the eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

                      Cooking the Chicken:

                        - In a large skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken rolls and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.

                          - Transfer the chicken to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 75°C).

Make the Creamy Swiss Cheese Sauce:

                              - In a saucepan over medium heat, add heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer.

                                - Stir in the shredded Swiss cheese and Dijon mustard, whisking continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

                                  Serve:

                                    - Remove toothpicks or twine from the chicken. Slice each roll into medallions and plate them.

                                      - Drizzle the creamy Swiss cheese sauce over the top of the chicken and sprinkle with chopped parsley for garnish.
