Ingredients

500g beef sirloin, thinly sliced

1 cup cornflour (cornstarch)

2 tablespoons soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

1 tablespoon sweet chilli sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch piece ginger, grated

1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips

1 green bell pepper, sliced into strips

1 onion, thinly sliced

2-3 green chillies, slit (optional for extra heat)

1 tablespoon vegetable oil for frying

Fresh coriander for garnish

Sesame seeds for garnish

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice wine vinegar, sweet chilli sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, preferably one hour in the refrigerator.

Prepare the Coating: After marinating, take the beef out of the refrigerator. In a shallow bowl, add the cornflour. Lightly coat each slice of beef in cornflour, pressing gently to adhere the coating.

Heat the Oil: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Make sure the oil is hot enough (around 180°C or 350°F) before adding the beef.

Fry the Beef: Fry the coated beef slices in batches, avoiding overcrowding the pan. Cook until golden brown and crispy, around 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, add the sliced onions, red and green bell peppers, and green chillies. Stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they become slightly tender but still crisp.

Combine and Glaze: Add the fried beef back into the pan with the vegetables. Pour in a bit more sweet chilli sauce for extra flavor, and toss everything together for about 2 minutes until heated through.

Garnish and Serve: Serve the crispy chilli beef hot, garnished with fresh coriander leaves and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Enjoy it with steamed rice or noodles!
