Asian-Style Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps

Ingredients
  

1 lb ground beef (80/20 for ideal flavor and juiciness)

2 tbsp soy sauce

2 tbsp hoisin sauce

1 tbsp sesame oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch fresh ginger, grated

1 cup bell pepper, finely diced (any color)

1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped (shiitake or button)

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

1 cup shredded carrots (or matchstick carrots)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 head of butter or romaine lettuce, leaves separated for wrapping

Lime wedges (for serving)

Optional toppings: chopped peanuts, cilantro, or Sriracha for spice

Instructions
 

Heat a Skillet: In a large non-stick skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.

    Cook the Aromatics: Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the hot oil, sautéing for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

      Brown the Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet. Use a spatula to break it apart as it cooks. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess fat if necessary.

        Add Veggies: Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and mushrooms into the skillet. Cook for another 3-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

          Season: Pour in the soy sauce and hoisin sauce, mixing well until the beef and vegetables are evenly coated. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

            Prepare Lettuce: While the beef mixture simmers, wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Choose larger ones for easier wrapping.

              Serve: Spoon the beef mixture into the center of each lettuce leaf and top with shredded carrots, green onions, and any optional toppings you desire. Squeeze fresh lime juice over the wraps for added brightness.
