The star of this dish is, of course, the shrimp. For this recipe, large shrimp are recommended because they offer a meaty bite and hold up well during the cooking process. When selecting shrimp, look for fresh or frozen options that are labeled as "wild-caught" or "fresh" to ensure the best flavor and texture. If using frozen shrimp, be sure to thaw them completely and pat them dry before breading. This step is important to prevent excess moisture from affecting the crispiness of the final dish.

Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)

1 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/2 cup all-purpose flour

1 large egg

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooking spray or olive oil spray

Fresh parsley (for garnish)

Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set them aside.

Set Up Breading Station: In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl, beat the egg. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl.

Bread the Shrimp: Dip each shrimp first into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess, then into the beaten egg, and finally coat with the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes.

Air Fry the Shrimp: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the breaded shrimp in a single layer in the basket, making sure they do not overlap. Spray the tops lightly with olive oil spray.

Cooking Time: Cook the shrimp for about 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Serve and Garnish: Once done, transfer the shrimp to a serving plate, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with lemon wedges on the side for an extra zing!
